For over a decade, and U.S. and others have been negotiating to develop a Globally Harmonized System of Chemical Hazard Classification and Labeling. These efforts are now coming to fruition.

As a general disclaimer, I want to say up front that the main purpose of our discussion today is to share perspectives. Government implementation plans will certainly be influenced by the expertise and insights we expect stakeholders like you to provide throughout the process.

I also want to acknowledge that the graphics in these slides are borrowed as are some of the slides themselves from the presentations that are part of the GHS resources available on the UNECE website.
